How to Be Mindful Today

In just a few steps, you can be more mindful now! Be sure to practice these steps every day for a mindful future, and even better, a mindful peace of mind.

Step 1 - Practice active listening by using the following phrasing steps: Acknowledge: by saying something like, “I’m sorry. That really sucks…”
Restate: by saying something along the lines of “Let me make sure I heard you correctly..." Clarify: by saying something similar to “It sounds like…”
Step 2 - Be present: Be consciously aware a.k.a. “present” regardless of the situation or task at hand.
Step 3 - Do one thing at a time: Most people think multi-tasking is helpful when in most cases, it is not. Focus on the task or situation at hand instead of trying to pull your brain in multiple directions.
Step 4 - Use breathing techniques: Breathe In: Breathe Out: Control and feel your breathing as you breathe in, and breathe out. Time It: Control your breathing in short intervals of a few seconds or minutes.
Step 5 - Use all of your senses: See: See the blue sky 🏞️ Hear: Hear the birds 🦜 Taste: Taste the air 🌫️ Smell: Smell the flowers 🌻 Feel: Feel the breeze 🍃
Step 6 - Be kind to your mind: Forgive yourself for negative thoughts, replace negative thoughts with positive thoughts, and always remember that you are a work in progress and that things will get better.
